Red Dots are becoming more popular and rightfully so as there are many benefits to running a RDS equipped Pistols for both Duty and Concealed carry use. This is a 10-hour live fire class conducted at an accelerated pace. The RDS (red dot sight) Pistol class is designed for individuals that have basic familiarization with the Pistol. We will be focusing on the vital elements and Fundamentals of transitioning from Iron sights to a RDS equipped Duty/Carry pistol.
By the completion of this 10-hour block of instruction, the students will have been provided instruction on care and maintenance of RDS equipped Pistols, zeroing, FINDING the dot, tracking the dot under recoil as well as tracking the dot when moving into various shooting positions, multiple target engagement, red dot specific malfunctions and Low light considerations. Lastly, they will complete the RDS Pistol qualification. Whether you are new to the RDS equipped pistol platform or you've been running it for years, you will walk away from this class with a higher level of confidence, performance and refinement with your RDS equipped Pistol.
Course Objectives
Safety/Med Brief
Equipment discussion, pros/cons, Irons vs red dots
RDS maintenance
Mounting procedure for mounting the RDS
Brightness settings (manual vs automatic) dot wash considerations in low light.
Zeroing procedure
Finding the dot on presentation
Tracking the dot during recoil
Re-acquiring the dot after reloads
One handed shooting (dominant & non-dominant side)
One handed weapon manipulation (reloads/malfunction clearing)
Multiple target engagements
Use of cover and concealment
Positional shooting
Barricade drills
Moving and shooting
Red Dot Specific malfunctions (occluded Ocular lens, Occluded Objective lens, water on the Ocular lens, water on emitter, dot is dead.

Required Equipment
Ammunition: 475 rounds
Semi-auto pistol equipped with red dot and backup irons
Holster AIWB or OWB Kydex holster. NO leather/nylon or SERPA holsters.
3 magazines
Double pistol mag carrier
Eye and ear protection (electronic recommended)
Appropriate range attire (no open toe shoes or low-cut shirts)
Hat
Lunch & water
